Byaling assures health facilitiesin inaccessible areas

KOLORIANG, Jan 22: Health and Family Welfare Minister Tanga Byaling laid the foundation stone of the 50 bedded community health centre under NRHM at Taipa village, Koloriang today.

Addressing the gathering Byaling emphasizing the importance of establishment of CHC in the area said that in inaccessible areas like Damin and Parsiparlo, health delivery system would be taken care for the benefit of the people.

He assured to look into the immediate needs for the creation of the infrastructures.

MLA Lokam Tassar urged the people of the area to form a monitoring committee to supervise the quality of work and appealed the Minister to find out a financial source for construction of security fencing around the demarcated land for CHC.

NRHM Director T Tapok informed that the total estimate cost of the CHC is Rs. 18 crore, out of which 8 crore 15 lakhs has been released this year by the central government. He also informed that three high focus districts Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kumey and East Kameng would be taken care on health delivery system.

Meanwhile, DC Remo Kamki appealed the construction agency to expedite immediately on the construction works, so that the people get the benefit at earliest and appreciated the local MLA for his untiring efforts for the area development.

Car burnt to ashes

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: A WagonR car was burnt to ashes in the wee hours today near a hotel at ‘E’ sector here.

The actual cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.

When contacted, Itanagar police said that the owner of the car has not yet lodged FIR regarding the accident to launch any investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.

SDP at NERIST

NAHARLAGUN, Jan. 22: The Mechanical Engineering department of North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli, is organizing All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) sponsored Staff Development Programme (SDP) on “Soft Computing in Engineering Applications” in the Institute’s New Seminar hall during January 25 to February 05.

Several eminent academicians from reputed Institutions such as IITs, DRDO, BESU, ISI, BITS, CEY etc. will deliver the lectures on various soft computing techniques and its engineering applications. More that 50 faculty members from all over the country like Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Orrisa, and Punjab. Arunachal Pradesh etc. would be participating the two week SDP.

Dr. Joram Begi, Director of NERIST will inaugurate the programme as Chief Guest on January 25. The programme is coordinated by Dr. S K. Panigrahi of Mechanical Engineering Department, according to Coordinator of SDP.

Lumla MLA emphasizes on education and afforestation

TAWANG Jan, 22: Jambey Tashi, MLA Lumla conducted 12 days maiden tour to various villages of his constituency from January 17 last.

The tour which started from Shocktsen village, hardly 5 KMs away from the international border between India and China, in presence of Brigadier C P Mohanty, VSM, Commander, 190 Mtn Brigade and CO, 4 Mahar is basically aimed to gather the first hand information about the problems faced by the people and chalk out means to ease out their livelihood. He has also plans to generate awareness among the masses over social evils, education, cleanliness, wildlife protection and afforestation plans to regenerate the lost forest.

It may be mentioned here that Jambey’s Lumla constituency shares international border with China and Bhutan and many of the villages are yet to be connected by surface communication. However, under the initiative of Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu various infrastructural developments are being carried out in the border areas so as to connect these remote villages with the national mainstream.

Jambey during his tour will also take stock of various developmental schemes and measures being implemented in the area.

The villages where Jambey would be visiting includes, Taksang, Lumpo, Muchut bordering China and the villages like Bleiting, Buri, Dudungkhar and Zanglum in the Bhutan border.

He was also accompanied by Head of offices from Lumla and prominent public leaders in his 12 days tour.

Training cum Demonstration Prog on Mushroom Cultivation

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in its endeavour to generate opportunities for livelihood both in terms of income and employment in rural areas in a sustainable and cost effective manner has sponsored 2 training cum exposure visit for farmers on Horticulture and Mushroom cultivation in West Kameng district under Capacity Building for Adoption of Technology (CAT) programme to Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dirang.

The objective of the training is to train Farmers in production of quality fresh mushrooms and processed products devoid of pesticides residues and ultimately upgrade the socio-economic status through income generation of the rural youth and farm women. The training which will cover 50 farmers will be conducted from 28 January 2010 to 30 January 2010.

Workshop on legal awareness

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: Kurung Kumey district legal service unit, Arunachal Law Students Union (ALSU) and HRNL, Arunachal unit have jointly organized a one-day legal awareness camp-cum-workshop at Koloriang on January 20 last.

Arunachal Citizens’ Right chairman Bamang Tago while deliberating on the topic “Right to food” said that free from hunger is the fundamental right of every citizen. Stressing on smooth distribution of PDS, he said Kurung Kumey being the backward district in the state needs to have separate FCI depot to improve the livelihood of the rural people.

ALSU president P L Murtem while highlighting the objectives of the workshop, also spoke on the RTI. He called upon the people to use RTI effectively for accountability, transparency and good governance for the best interest of the people.

Coordinator of the North East People’s Alliance Ramananda Wangkheir-akpam advocated that the jhum cultivation should be formally recognized as age old practice for livelihood. Claiming that developmental approach in the form of highways, dams, railways etc is taking over the precious fertile land, he said, we must all work together to become self sufficient in food production. Human Rights Law Network, Arunachal coordinator advocate Sunil Mow highlighted on custodial death and called upon the civil society play a meaningful role for protection of human rights.

Extra Assistant Commissioner of the district T Messar stressed on the need of social awareness against domestic violence and establishment of juvenile justice board and child welfare committee in the district.

Social service cum cleanliness drive

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The Muskan Welfare Society (MWS), led by its President, State First Lady Anupama Singh is conducting a social service cum cleanliness drive at the General Hospital, Naharlagun on 23rd January.

Responding to the appeal of the Governor for ‘Clean and Green Arunachal’, anganwadi workers, gramsavika and students from various schools of the twin city will be taking part in it. Offices of Deputy Commissioner, Capital Complex and Urban Development, Capital Complex will be providing the logistic support to the MWS initiative.

MWS Member Secretary Mamta Riba informed that the initiative of the Society is an effort to inculcate civic sense amongst the denizens of the twin city and against use of plastics. The society has made an appeal to all conscious members of the society to join the drive, she added.

The MWS, which has successfully conducted a breast awareness campaign recently, had conducted plantations, hiking expedition and facilitated welfare schemes for the socially disadvantaged members of the society in the past. Monitoring committee inspects road projects

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: District Level Monitoring Committee, Kurung Kumey District completed its three days monitoring tour on January 19.

The team headed by DC Remo Kamki and Zilla Parishad members of the respective blocks visited various on-going projects at Koloriang, Sangram, Nyapin, Sango, Yangte and Palin.

They inspected Koloriang-Damin, Rural link roads from Koloriang to Chello, Kuru bridge point to Pari, Koloriang PWD road to Nikja village, BRTF road to Harang at Koloriang circle.

They also inspected 33/11kv sub-station at Sangram, various educational, health and other departmental institutions and infrastructures including VKV school building at Gaga village, 50 bedded hospital at Palin and PHC Building Nyapin and Yangte, government college Nyapin.

1st phase of NES social interactive cum academic awareness tour ends

‘Health, education and infrastructure sectors need spl attention of Govt’

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The 1st phase of the social interactive-cum-academic awareness tour of the Nyishi Elite Society(NES) covering Upper Subansiri, Lower Subansiri and Kurung Kumey districts of the state concluded successfully on January 20 last.

Throughout the tour, the members in the far flung areas directly interacted with the Executive Members of the NES on social issues for the first time in the history of the Nyishi Elite Society. Bengia Tolum President, NES assured to take up genuine grievances submitted to the entourage with the appropriate authority. From the findings of the tour and ardent plea of the masses, the Government needs to give special attention to the core issues of health, Education, communication and infrastructure in those areas, said a NES release.

At the end of the 2nd leg of the 1st phase NES interactive tour, the team was accorded a rousing reception at Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Yazali followed by interactive meeting in which the incharge Principal extended welcome address. Licha Birbal, Anchal Chairperson Yazali, Taba Chana, JT, Likha Togur, Head Master Govt. Secondary School Pitapool and President, Lower Subansiri Unit of Arunachal Teachers Association (ATA), Chukhu Tadap, Student Govt. Hr.Sec. School Yazali, Er. A.C. Don, Joint Secretary, Upper Subansiri, Er. Ratan Tebin, Joint Secretary, Lower Subansiri, Tarin Dakpe, Vice President (East) and Dr. Tachi Taku, Vice President (West), NES shared valuable opinion on topics of social importance in details.

Bengia Tolum, President, NES gave a detailed account of the experience and views of the local people at the interactions held at Daporijo, Muri-Mugli & Puchi-Geko under Upper Subansiri District, Godak & Raga under Lower Subansiri District, Palin, Nyapin, Hiya, Sangram, Sarli & Koloriang under Kurung Kumey District and again, Deed & Yazali in Lower Subansiri District.

Earlier, after conducting the 1st leg interactive tour to Dollungmukh on January 8 on social and academic issues, 2nd leg of the NES interactive programme started at Daporijo on January 15 last. During interacting session at Daporijo, Akom Chiter Don, Joint Secretary, Upper Subansiri District submitted a memorandum to the NES highlighting the need of the construction of the multipurpose Nyishi Socio-cultural Hall at Daporijo, Up-gradation of Muri-Mugli Secondary School to Higher Secondary School, Creation of Administrative Circle Headquarter at Sigin covering Chikom area, Up-gradation of Puchi-Geko Circle into an independent Administrative Sub-Division.

During the meeting, Bengia Tolum, President, NES dwelt at length on multifarious social issues and introduction of Nyishi as 3rd Language in Class-VI,VII & VIII and change of nomenclature from Dafla to Nyishi by a historic constitutional amendment passed by the both houses of the Parliament of India in a single day.

The entourage had four interactive sessions on the 2nd day on January 16 at Muri-Mugli, Puchi-Geko, Godak and Raga.

While we coming the visiting team at Palin on January 17, local convenor Tarh Talo, ZPM pleaded the NES to formulate policies as regards to rampant marketing of local beads (tassang), other antiques and commercial slaughter of Mithuns in consultation with bazaar committee, legislators, grass-root leaders and social leaders. Khyoda Tagum, ADO suggested for formation of the district units of Nyishi Elite Society and for effective role of the NES in lateral entry into various organized services.

At Nyapin, Pisa Gungnia, Chairperson, Zilla Parishad Kurung Kumey district appealed the teaching fraternity to carry forward the missionary spirit of the entourage with the Nyishi academic books as the prime agenda. Takio Tuglo, Principal, Government Hr. Secondary School, Nyapin received the academic books from the President, NES.

On January 18, the team inspected Govt. Secondary School, Hiya and pained to find the school classrooms in dilapidated conditions and dismally very poor infrastructure worth of naming as secondary school in all respects compounded with acute shortage of teaching staffs.

At Sangram, Tai Yapang, ZPM in her address implored upon the NES team to take up with the appropriate authority to mitigate the transportation bottleneck in the area especially Sangram to Nyobya road, posting of subject teachers in the schools and commissioning of BSNL mobile services. At Sarli, Pisa Logu, Headmaster, Govt. Middle School, Sarli received the Nyishi academic books from the President, NES.

At Koloriang, Girish Chandra Pant, i/c Principal, Govt. Hr. Secondary School, Koloriang, Er. Tami Nikja, A.E, PWD, Koloriang and Boi Phassang, AVB volunteer received the Nyishi academic books from the President, Nyishi Elite Society for Koloriang Hr. Sec. School, Govt. Middle School, Nikja and VKV, Koloriang respectively. On January 19 the team visited Deed.

Educational awareness tour

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: Kurung Kumey District Students Union along with four branches of the district’s student union successfully conducted a week-long educational and social awareness tour in Kurung Kumey district from January 14 last. During the tour representatives of AKKDSU visited numerous villages of district and interacted with villagers.

CRY Club lauds ACA

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: Chimpu Rishi Youth (CRY) Club has lauded the efforts of Arunachal Cricket Association (ACA) promoting cricket in Arunachal Pradesh.

Selection of two budding cricketers Tana Radh and Suhel Hussain along with coach Lokam Ganga of Arunachal Pradesh for undergoing training at National Cricket Academy at Bangalore is a matter of proud for the state, CRY said in a release and hoped that both the players will bring glory to the state in future.

AKWS donates land for ADC Hq

ITANAGAR: All Khyoda Welfare Society (AKWS) has decided to donate land measuring 60 lakh sqm in total for infrastructure development of the proposed ADC headquarter at Pania under Kurung Kumey district. This was informed by Palin MLA Takam Tagar (Pario) in a release today.

Meanwhile, Tagar (Pario) requested the Kurung Kumey deputy commissioner to depute a team of land officers and staff to the proposed ADC headquarter site for proper survey and demarcation of land. Pario, also appealed the govt to take up early steps for infrastructure development of the ADC Hqs.

Mumbai/Chandi-garh/ Ranchi: New Governors took charge in Maharashtra, Punjab and Jharkhand today, bringing with them a vast experience of public and political life.
